Senior Oracle Production DBAs are responsible for defining the complete customer solutions and
database administration services to configure and maintain large Oracle environments. Architecture
services include capacity planning and designing solutions to meet high availability, scalability,
and disaster recovery requirements for clients in a 24x7x365 commercial production environment
Must have 5-8 years experience as an Oracle DBA, which encompasses installing, upgrading,
supporting Oracle database software and the associated Oracle Technology stack in a multi-tier
environment including: database server, applications server, web server, reports server, forms
server, admin server, Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC), discoverer server environment, and
database management and monitoring software, such as Oracle Enterprise Manager. Experience with
Oracle 10g and Oracle Database 9i product versions in UNIX environments is a must, as well as
fluency in Pro*C, PL/SQL and or SQL..
Knowledge of storage technologies including Storage Area Networks (SANs) a plus.
Some travel may be necessary.
Excellent interpersonal skills, and an ability to communicate technical issues verbally and in
writing. Plusses for this position include previous experience in performing database audits,
Oracle applications, and familiarity with Microsoft and open source database products.
Provide Oracle support to a development team, perform software/database builds, serve as
production DBA, monitor database backups, availability, and performance, update the system/database
maintenance documents, troubleshoot database-related end user issues, and security administration.
Production Support includes off-hours support when needed. Change management, high availability,
performance tuning, query optimization, partitioning. Create and maintain process/procedure
documentation. Install and upgrade various Oracle products and toolsets. Act as primary or secondary
for support of various applications, contribute to projects, and act as secondary for certain UNIX
SA tasks. Assists in the selection, configuration, and implementation of all hardware/software
platforms intended to support a database and its associated applications. Configuration and
implementation of all database utilities intended to support a database and its associated
applications. Installs a database system and establishes a functioning instance of the database.
Designs, implements, and supports backup and recovery procedures for all database systems.
Implements daily operational procedures to ensure database platforms are performing efficiently.
Develop and implement data and database related standards, procedures, and guidelines. Designs
logical and physical databases and determine impact of database changes on other systems. Help
development teams better deploy or use database tools
BA or BS degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field or equivalent
combination of training and experience. Also required to have either a Certified Oracle Master or
an Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) certification
